Peter Pan
It was a Friday night. The Darlings were having dinner at some friends' house and their dog Nana was trapped in the courtyard. The way was clear for Peter Pan, the boy who refused to grow up, to come and get his shadow and take little Wendy, John and Michael to Neverland. An enchanted island, populated by mermaids, red skins and pirates, led by the sinister Jaime Gancho and where a beautiful story of initiation will unfold.
The book's author, James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) was born in Scotland. He studied in Glasgow and then at the University of Edinburgh, before becoming a journalist in Nottingham, a profession he continued in London. He published poems, plays and novels.
Peter Pan — which was continued in Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens (1906) — is the best known of his works. It began as a play in 1904, only later finding its definitive form.
