The author – evoking his own sentimental memory – narrates the disease process, from the moment when the protagonists shared time, reading and affection, when the disease had not yet manifested itself; he goes through his first symptoms and the lethargy of irreversible sleep, which the grandson compensates by keeping his grandmother company; and finally culminates in a denouement in the form of a short story...
