The Jungle Books, Rudyard Kipling
The Jungle Books are two collections of stories, The Jungle Book (1894) and The Second Jungle Book (1895), which were written during the period when Kipling lived in the United States. These include short stories and poems, including Mowgli, which tells of a boy raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. It is there that we will find the tiger Shere Khan, the black panther Baguera, the sleepy brown bear Balu and the serpent Kaa.
Other famous protagonists of these books are the mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi and Tumai of the Elephants.
