The Girl in Red

Sale price€19,00

The Girl in Red is a modern take on the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood. Aaron Frisch's text, which recounts Sofia's bumpy journey on a stormy day, welcomes - in a sober style - its main narrative arguments: the sick grandmother, the dark forest, the evil wolf and the girl in the red hood.
Roberto Innocenti's illustrations, precise down to the smallest detail, show the big city as a chaotic, uneven, dangerous territory. And in the heart of this labyrinth of streets and buildings is «O Bosque», a multiethnic place full of color and life, the maximum expression of consumer society, communication and technology; with all its defects, and to which a strong criticism is made.
This adaptation also stands out for the fragmented design of the pages, with blocks of text separated from the images, in comic book style. Many generations of boys and girls grew up with this eternal tale, with a ferocious wolf that now travels on a motorcycle, and with an ending that - in the case of The Girl in Red - can be both tragic and happy. Because taking place in the past or in the present, tales are always magical.
